NTT DATA, a digital business and IT services leader, announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Umvel, a digital design and engineering firm. Headquartered in Mexico City, Umvel provides high-end design and digital product development services and brings a strong culture of talented and in-demand designers and engineers.

After the deal is completed, Umvel will expand on NTT DATA’s successful purchases of Nexient, Vectorform, and Postlight in the field of digital design and engineering. The NTT DATA team will grow to more than 140 people.

Access to NTT DATA’s innovation powerhouse, which includes a $3.6 billion average annual R&D investment and a workforce of 5,000 research specialists worldwide, will be advantageous for Umvel clients and workers. NTT DATA recently announced the opening of 6 innovation centers throughout the world, including an Innovation Studio in Plano, Texas, to focus on bringing cutting-edge technology to clients.
